Do it for the love.

First things first. Click play to hear the instrumental music ("Further Up, Further In" by Tony Anderson, one of my favorite composers) that I listened to while writing this piece. Then start reading below.

Do it for the love.

When your students hit and throw and scream and slice you with words but you know that inside, they are just hungry or lonely or hurting or feeling lost… Do it for the love.

When you need to pick up a second job to sustain you as you create a future that causes your soul to dance inside your body… Do it for the love.

When your relationships feel heavy or itchy like an old wool sweater and your heart is weary from the weight of carrying one another’s burdens… Do it for the love.

When doing the right thing is hard and uncomfortable but choosing indifference and ignorance looks so seductive… Do it for the love.

When you’d rather be anywhere but where you are and want to resist the valley that will help you grow… Do it for the love.

And then,

When your heart and your body are begging to be brave and bold and audacious and fearless and hopeful and holy… Do it for the love.

When you only have a few dollars in your bank account and you see a need you can’t ignore… Do it for the love.

When you’ve met the person you want to sacrificially serve and uplift and fight for for the rest of your life… Do it for the love.

When the music in the car reminds you of God’s goodness and the secular suddenly becomes sacred and makes you want to worship… Do it for the love.

When your heart is moved by His tender Spirit and you’re beckoned to draw even closer still… Do it for the love.
